Marunda Flat Citizens Requesting Afternoon Class at SDN 02 Pagi

Supposedly, the afternoon class must also be imposed, because private school access is very far from the flat

The interest of citizens living at Marunda Flat in terms of education is very high. Unfortunately, its existence is still low in such area. Therefore, they hope, the State Elementary School (SDN) 02 Marunda, does not only opening morning class but also afternoon class to accommodate more students.

"Supposedly, the afternoon class must also be imposed, because private school access is very far from the flat," hoped Didik, (42), one of Marunda Flat citizens, North Jakarta, Thursday (7/10).

Responding on this matter, Head of SD Section for North Jakarta Primary Education Sub-Department, Rona Evelin disclosed that such request cannot be realized yet. The reason is it is the authority of Jakarta Education Department.

"We don't have right to impose afternoon class due to this is department's authority," he explained.

He added, currently the SDN 02 Pagi in Marunda Flat already has two buildings, one old building and one new building, where they could accommodate 800 1st-6th grader students. He assessed, one of factors over many children cannot be accommodated in school is about the age. This is because the recruitment fixated on the age, instead of score.

"If your children's age is around seven years old, yet the register is dominated by eight years old thus we will accept eight years old," he explained.
